MODE SOCIETY

Dear Design Professionals, Educators, & Friends,

The MODE Society is officially launching iin July, 2026, creating a new hub for educators, researchers, and creative practitioners that are passionate about motion design and design pedagogy. Members will gain access to collaborative research opportunities, summit discounts, the growing MODE Wiki, and a global network of like-minded individuals dedicated to shaping the future of design education. Whether you are looking to share ideas, publish research, build connections, or simply find your people in the ever-evolving world of motion and interaction design, MODE Society is designed to be a vibrant space for learning, collaboration, and creative exchange.

What is MODE Society? MODE Society is a move to extend our community beyond a biennial event, and provide a space to disseminate research, collaborate and communicate. We will be launching a Wiki for all MODE members.

The MODE Summit was founded out of a shared belief that motion design is not only a professional practice, but a way of thinking, teaching, and communicating that shapes how ideas move through the world. As educators and practitioners, we saw the need for a space that brings together learning, research, experimentation, and professional practice. MODE exists to support that ecosystem and to nurture the people within it.

Who makes up MODE Society?

We welcome designers, educators, students, researchers, and professionals from across disciplines, cultures, identities, and career stages. We believe motion design grows stronger through diverse perspectives and lived experiences, and we are committed to creating spaces where curiosity, generosity, and respect are foundational. Anyone who has attended a MODE Summit since its inception in 2013 is welcome to join, participate and utilize our resources.

How to join MODE Society?

By attending a MODE Summit you qualify as a MODE Society Member. You only need to apply and pay the yearly fee of $40.

Why Join?

Through conferences, publications, workshops, and networking opportunities, members gain access to a vibrant exchange of ideas that supports both professional growth and student success. For educators committed to shaping the next generation of designers, MODE Society serves as both a creative laboratory and a professional compass, helping transform classrooms into spaces of experimentation, critical thinking, and impactful visual communication.
